Nvidia has introduced the Nvidia Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robotic, an open humanoid robotic platform designed to speed up analysis and growth in bodily AI and general-purpose robotics.
Unveiled at Nvidia GTC Taipei, the platform combines a Unitree H2 Plus humanoid robotic, Sharpa Wave tactile five-finger palms, Nvidia Jetson Thor onboard computing, and the corporate’s Isaac GR00T software program stack right into a single reference design.
The brand new platform goals to handle one of many largest challenges going through humanoid robotics researchers: the fragmented technique of integrating {hardware}, accumulating information, working simulations, coaching AI fashions, and deploying robotic capabilities in the actual world.
Nvidia says the reference design offers researchers with entry to superior {hardware} and an open software program stack with out requiring proprietary robotics platforms.
“Humanoid robots will deliver bodily AI to the world’s largest industries, opening a multitrillion-dollar financial alternative,” mentioned Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “The Nvidia Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robotic provides researchers a single, open platform to make breakthrough discoveries towards general-purpose bodily intelligence.”
The platform includes a Unitree H2 humanoid robotic with 31 levels of freedom, twin Sharpa Wave tactile robotic palms with 22 levels of freedom every, and Nvidia Jetson AGX Thor onboard computing powered by a Blackwell GPU.
A key aspect of the announcement is Nvidia’s effort to supply an entire humanoid growth workflow via the Isaac GR00T ecosystem. The software program stack contains Isaac Teleop for information assortment, Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab for simulation and coaching, Isaac ROS middleware for deployment, and Nvidia’s open basis fashions for humanoid reasoning and conduct growth.
Nvidia additionally introduced that the Isaac GR00T growth platform will help the broadly used Unitree G1 humanoid robotic, extending entry to a broader robotics analysis group.
A number of main analysis establishments have dedicated to utilizing the platform, together with Ai2, ETH Zurich, Stanford Robotics Middle, and the Superior Robotics and Controls Laboratory on the College of California San Diego.
“Robotics strikes quickest when researchers can construct on open platforms, share code and check concepts on actual machines,” mentioned Steve Cousins, government director of the Stanford Robotics Middle.
“The Nvidia Isaac GR00T Reference Robotic provides our college students and collaborators an open humanoid reference design with dexterous palms, onboard AI compute and the Nvidia Isaac GR00T growth platform for creating, evaluating and sharing robotic behaviors on bodily {hardware}.”
Marco Hutter, professor at ETH Zurich’s Robotic Techniques Lab, mentioned: “The Nvidia Isaac GR00T reference design provides our groups a state-of-the-art humanoid platform for accumulating information, testing algorithms and validating robotic behaviors with the Nvidia Isaac GR00T growth platform.”
The Nvidia Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robotic is anticipated to be obtainable from Unitree in late 2026.
